American Film Academy has taken a remarkable initiative by joining hands with Sacred Heart College of Arts and Science, located in the picturesque town of Dindigul,Tamil Nadu, India, to pursue excellence in the field of arts and media education.
The prestigious American Film Academy (AFA) joined hands with the college’s Department of Visual Communication under the leadership of the Principal and Secretary Dr. Innasimuthu in 2021.
This collaboration has set in motion a new era of learning opportunities for BSc Visual Communication students, empowering them to become skilled journalists, storytellers, ad filmmakers, and aspiring filmmakers.

Prof. Shaker
Prof. Shaker, AFA’s visionary leader, is a mentor who bridges cinematic excellence with real-world storytelling. During his visit to India from the US, he conducted immersive, hands-on sessions for Visual Communication students at Sacred Heart, offering them a rare opportunity to learn directly from a pioneer and expert in the media industry.
His sessions were an exploration of the art and beauty of filmmaking and media, where students were given exposure to the evolving landscape of global cinema. Prof. Shaker’s guidance empowered aspiring filmmakers to refine their creative instincts, master technical skills, and develop a profound understanding of visual storytelling.
His commitment to nurturing young talent continues to inspire students to push the boundaries of creativity and professionalism in the world of cinema.
Workshop with
Director Dhalapathy
American Film Academy (AFA) and Into Action Academy (IAA), in collaboration with Sacred Heart College’s Visual Communication department, successfully hosted a workshop with renowned film director Dhalapathy (B.Sc., D.F.T.) on March 13, 2025. Director Dhalapathy, the President of the Tamil Nadu Small Screen Directors Association and Small Screen Artists Federation has an illustrious career in film and television. His works, including Iru Malargal, Deepangal, The Pearl, and various Tamil feature films and TV serials, have earned him the Best Director Award from the California Motion Picture Council and state awards from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

A Student Film Collaboration
Maayam is a short film project created in collaboration with students of the Visual Communication Department of Sacred Heart College. This initiative provided students with hands-on experience in filmmaking, blending creativity with technical expertise.
